Labour keeps up pressure on A120

UK_road_A120_800The decision to leave open the Hare Green junction on the A120 was welcomed by the Labour Group at Wednesday’s meeting of Harwich Town Council.  Harwich’s Labour councillors had strongly opposed the intention to shut off the junction and one of Labour’s East Ward team, Alan Todd, had previously proposed that speed reduction methods be used in the short term with a long term view to installing a roundabout to remove the dangers.  This is exactly what is to happen and Labour is delighted that Essex County Council and the Highways Agency have listened to the Labour proposal and acted upon it.

Labour members are also pleased by the news that their strongly worded complaint calling for immediate remedial action to improve the surface of the A120 has resulted in the Highways Agency writing to confirm that re surfacing is to take place along the Wix by-pass to Horsley Cross.  Harwich Town Council has been lobbying continuously for action to be taken and it is good to see that the pressure is finally paying off.
