New Bottle Bank for Harwich

There has long been a newspaper/magazine collection point at Harwich Town Railway/Bus Station but a local resident suggested that there was also need for a bottle bank. Tendring District Council have now arranged for the installation of not only a new bottle bank but also a Clothing and Shoes collector. As a result Harwich now has its own ‘mini recycling centre’. The location is very convenient for those using the train and bus and is much nearer than the existing recycling centre in Barrack Lane.
Councillor David Flavell (East Ward) said: “Thanks to an idea from a local resident and excellent work by Bill Smith at Tendring District Council, Harwich now has its own recycling centre. Although only on site for a few days, it is already being well used and I am very pleased that it is there ready for the coming holidays. The location is ideal for those wanting to recycle but unable to use the other nearest facility in Barrack Lane.”
