Dear Mr Cameron

You will see from the enclosed email that the Salvation Army in Clacton-on-Sea have been advised by Tendring District Council that they do not meet the criteria for a grant from the council’s ‘Big Society’ fund because their proposed project does not make ‘quantifiable savings’ to the council.

Will you please confirm that, when you were establishing your Big Society concept, you intended it to be a requirement that a community project put forward by such an organisation as the Salvation Army had to produce quantifiable savings to a local authority before it would be considered for Big Society funding?

Yours sincerely

Councillor Les Double
