People of Harwich & Dovercourt

A MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE OF HARWICH & DOVERCOURT

It was disappointing, but no real surprise, to see Councillor Rutson pictured in the Standard of 9th October attempting to take credit for our three new seafront toilet blocks. The plans he was holding were drawn up, brought forward and funded by our previous administration and would have been followed by multi million pound improvements to our swimming pool and sports hall had the Tories and Community Reps not cancelled the projects after taking control of the council in May.

We are delighted that we were able to achieve these new toilets for Dovercourt but feel it is important to note that Councillor Rutson voted against the new toilets at the West End of the promenade (see TDC minutes 19/02/08) and also voted against our budget which funded the other two blocks (see TDC minutes 19/02/09).

We would also like to remind Councillor Rutson of what the Community Reps said in the Standard of 18th April 2007, two weeks before the last local elections. ‘We will support policies that come from whatever quarter if they benefit our communities’. We would suggest that, as a councillor elected to represent the people of Harwich, Councillor Rutson’s actions have not matched his party’s words.
