A further 500 signatures collected by residents in West Ward have been handed to Labour’s West Ward team as part of the ongoing campaign to have the district’s street lights switched back on at night.

The additional signatures were presented to Harwich’s Essex County Councillor, Ivan Henderson, on Sunday morning and he has agreed to pass them to Maureen Smith who is coordinating the petition across the Tendring District.

Labour’s TDC councillor for West Ward, John Hawkins, says, “This is a further example of how much this means to people and we are very grateful to everyone who has played a part in a very big effort. It’s now time for the Conservatives to listen to public opinion and switch the lights back on.”

Ivan Henderson says, “With TDC’s consultation period coming towards its end this is a big boost to the campaign. The petition across the district must be one of the largest ever seen and it should not be ignored.”
