Famous Mirror columnist to speak at Labour dinner

2014-07-10 Paul Routledge Cliff Hotel PromoFollowing on from the highly successful fund raising dinner at which Kevin Maguire was the guest speaker, Ivan Henderson has persuaded his good friend, Paul Routledge, to visit Harwich as guest speaker at Harwich Branch Labour Party’s 2014 event.

The fund raising dinner, sponsored by ASLEF, will take place at the Cliff Hotel on Thursday, 10th July at a cost of £15 per head.

Paul Routledge is a Daily Mirror political correspondent famous for his ‘Old Labour’ views. Paul started his journalistic career with the Times before becoming the Observer’s Industrial Editor. He has also worked for the Guardian and the Independent on Sunday and now has his own column in each Friday’s Daily Mirror. He has written biographies of Betty Boothroyd, Gordon Brown, Peter Mandelson, Arthur Scargill and Airey Neave. Paul’s main areas of interest are working class industrial issues such as mining, the railways and ship building.

Never one to hold back his opinions, Paul and Ivan became good friends during Ivan’s time the MP for Harwich. Ivan was often referred to in the Paul Routledge column in the Daily Mirror.

Paul is always good value and his presence as guest speaker is certain to make the dinner an enjoyable and memorable occasion.
